St Paul’s & Doxey Holy Communion 7th
February 2021
Welcome & Introduction from Revd Martin
The Lord be with you
and also with you.
Hymn:
Gather Us In
Prayer
Almighty God,
to whom all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from whom no secrets are hidden:
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy name;
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said:
The first commandment is this:
‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your mind,
and with all your strength.’
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’
There is no other commandment greater than these.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Amen. Lord, have mercy.
Jesus said,
‘Before you offer your gift, go and be reconciled.’
As sisters and
brothers in God’s family,
we come together
to ask our Father for forgiveness.
You raise the dead
to life in the Spirit.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
You bring pardon
and peace to the broken in heart.
Christ, have
mercy.
Christ, have
mercy.
You make one by
your Spirit the torn and divided.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
May God who loved
the world so much
that he sent his
Son to be our Saviour
forgive us
our sins
and make us holy
to serve him in the world,
through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Gloria
Glory to God in the highest,
and peace to his
people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly
King,
almighty God and
Father,
we worship you, we
give you thanks,
we praise you for
your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ,
only Son of the Father,
Lord God, Lamb of
God,
you take away the
sin of the world:
have mercy on us;
you are seated at
the right hand of the Father:
receive our
prayer.
For you alone are
the Holy One,
you alone are the
Lord,
you alone are the
Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy
Spirit,
in the glory of
God the Father.
Amen.
Collect
Almighty God,
you have created
the heavens and the earth
and made us in
your own image:
teach us to
discern your hand in all your works
and your likeness
in all your children;
through Jesus
Christ your Son our Lord,
who with you and
the Holy Spirit reigns supreme over all things
now and for ever.
Amen
First reading: Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12
Two are
better than one,
because
they have a good return for their labour:
If
either of them falls down,
one
can help the other up.
But pity
anyone who falls
and
has no one to help them up.
Also, if
two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But
how can one keep warm alone?
Though
one may be overpowered,
two
can defend themselves.
A cord
of three strands is not quickly broken.
Second reading: Acts 2: 41-47
Those
who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to
their number that day.
They
devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking
of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many
wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were
together and had everything in common. They sold property and
possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they
continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their
homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising
God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their
number daily those who were being saved.

Sermon:
Pastor Donovan Haslam, New Testament Church of God, Doxey
The Creed
I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
creator of heaven
and earth.
I believe in Jesus
Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived
by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin
Mary,
suffered under
Pontius Pilate,
was crucified,
died, and was buried;
he descended to
the dead.
On the third day
he rose again;
he ascended into
heaven,
he is seated at
the right hand of the Father,
and he will come
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the
Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic
Church,
the communion of
saints,
the forgiveness of
sins,
the resurrection
of the body,
and the life
everlasting.
Amen.
Intercessions
Merciful Father
Accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son, our Saviour
Amen
We are the body of
Christ.
In the one Spirit
we were all baptized into one body.
Let us then pursue
all that makes for peace
and builds up our
common life.
The peace of the
Lord be always with you.
and also with you.
Hymn:
Of
the Father’s Love Begotten
Eucharistic
Prayer (H)
The Lord is here.
His Spirit is with
us.
Lift up your
hearts.
We lift them to
the Lord.
Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
It is right to
give thanks and praise.
It is right to
praise you, Father, Lord of all creation;
in your love you
made us for yourself.
When we turned
away
you did not reject
us,
but came to meet
us in your Son.
All You embraced us as your
children
and welcomed us to
sit and eat with you.
In Christ you
shared our life
that we might live
in him and he in us.
All He opened his arms of
love upon the cross
and made for all
the perfect sacrifice for sin.
On the night he
was betrayed,
at supper with his
friends
he took bread, and
gave you thanks;
he broke it and
gave it to them, saying:
Take, eat; this is
my body which is given for you;
do this in
remembrance of me.
All Father, we do this in
remembrance of him:
his body is the
bread of life.
At the end of
supper, taking the cup of wine,
he gave you
thanks, and said:
Drink this, all of
you; this is my blood of the new covenant,
which is shed for
you for the forgiveness of sins;
do this in
remembrance of me.
All Father, we do this in
remembrance of him:
his blood is shed
for all.
As we proclaim his
death and celebrate his rising in glory,
send your Holy
Spirit that this bread and this wine
may be to us the
body and blood of your dear Son.
All As we eat and drink
these holy gifts
make us one in
Christ, our risen Lord.
With your whole
Church throughout the world
we offer you this
sacrifice of praise
and lift our voice
to join the eternal song of heaven:
All Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and
might,
Heaven and earth
are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the
highest.
Our Father in
heaven,
hallowed
be your name,
your
kingdom come,
your will
be done,
on earth
as in heaven.
Give us
today our daily bread.
Forgive us
our sins
as we
forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us
not into temptation
but
deliver us from evil.
For the
kingdom, the power,
and the
glory are yours
now and
for ever. Amen.
The president breaks the consecrated bread.
We break this bread
to share in the body of Christ.
Though we are many, we are one body,
because we all share in one bread.
Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world,
grant us peace.
Jesus is the Lamb of God
who takes away the sin of the world.
Blessed are those who are called to his supper.
Lord, I am not worthy to receive you,
but only say the word, and I shall be healed.
