My parachute jump that was booked for the 22nd of October was cancelled due to bad weather. I managed to re-book for the following Friday the 29th of October but unfortunately this too was cancelled due to poor weather. The Parachute Centre closes at the end of October and re-opens on the 4th of March 2022.

I finally was able to do the jump on Friday the 18th of March.

And a prayer

Keep us, good Lord, under the shadow of your mercy.

Sustain and support the anxious,

be with those who care for the sick,

and lift up all who are brought low;

that we may find comfort

knowing that nothing can separate us from your love

in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Amen

S U Daily reading and reflection

Words from Margaret Shoemark (one of our ALM’s at Paul’s), to reflect on and to savour:

The church is quiet and empty,

And yet, there is a presence,

a presence that surrounds,

and sinks deep into the very soul.

The church may be full or the church may be empty,

but, the presence remains.

The people have left, they have gone out,

as a bird flies out through an open window,

and settles on a bough,

and sings with joy.

People who have never heard its song before,

stop and listen, for it sings a new song.

It spreads its message to ears that have been closed

but now are eager to hear this song of hope.

And the presence in the empty church smiles,

for he knows that the bird will return,

for here it will find food and water.

And the people who have never heard before

will enter through the open doors to hear the bird once more.

But even more, they will find rest in the presence,

and be fed, with the bread of life and living water.
